How It Works...

Hosted Sessions For Best Results

Within a partner school a lead teacher oversees regular sessions where students come together to engage with our learning content and complete the assigned tasks.

Most learning tasks can be completed solo or in groups to encourage collaboration.

Just like a sports team has regular, scheduled practice sessions, our programs operate like a “club” for the various industry pathways. Schools host the club at a regularly scheduled weekly time. This is usually a lunchtime or after school.

The Entrepreneur Pathway is a universal program to begin developing the skills that turn ideas into money, opening the doors to transformational financial futures for every young person. It can be completed as its own pathway, or as a complement for students in our other industry centered pathway programs. It is at the  heart of our mission and all students are encouraged to engage in the skills covered in the Entrepreneur Pathway.

Why Is It Needed?

School curriculums serve a purpose but they are not enough on their own to adequately prepare students for a future where they can earn enough to achieve financial freedom. For that, students need to develop skills that have Direct Convertible Value. Skills such as negotiation, persuasion and personal branding are not currently explicitly taught within any curriculum subject, yet they are arguably some of the most valuable skills a person can have to transform their earning capacity.

On top of the financial freedom considerations is the fact that very few normal school curriculum subjects provide insight into the working realities of different industries. Students are asked to make decisions about their future without the insights and experiences they need to make informed decisions. This results in embarrassing statistics in all developed nations around how few students are able to use their university major to actually make money after they graduate.

So, Stephen Morton-Jones set out to directly improve the value of learning for students by developing learning programs that address these shortfalls. Enter, Advance Education’s Pathway Programs.

However, it’s not just about the students….

As a New Zealand secondary school teacher for over 20 years, Stephen Morton-Jones watched teacher pay slowly get eroded by inflation and successive governments uninterested in adequately financially supporting the sector. Over this time, schools have also continued to be grossly operationally underfunded.

Realising nothing was going to change if the sector continued as it was, Stephen faced a decision to either leave the sector or try and be the arbiter of change the sector needs. With his deep belief in the importance of secondary education, Stephen chose to be the change he wants to see in the world, committing to developing transformational education and financially supporting schools and teachers.

Operating in the co-curricular space allowed Stephen to build an affiliated partnership model that could not only improve student learning, but also see schools and teachers gain an additional source of income.
